Dieu Donné is pleased to announce a new edition by Kirsten Hassenfeld. Blue Ware Ornamental is an edition of 100 variable artworks in handmade paper.

Hassenfeld draws inspiration from nature, as did the traditional decorative arts. Her work goes one step further by reuniting processed nature with its origin. British Willow Ware and Delftware inspire Blue Ware Ornamental’s color and pattern, both known for the signature combination of cobalt blue and white. A legacy of Dutch Golden Age colonialism, Delftware was at once influenced by and influencers of East Asian ceramics. British Willow Ware has a story attached to it that is both romantic and apocryphal. Blue Ware Ornamental is a double entendre that refers both to Hassenfeld’s work, often described as ornamental, and to the appellation given to trees by landscape architects. The work’s leaves are sculptural elements that relate to Hassenfeld’s intricate installations.
