April Gornik
Halang Bay, 2004
Cotton base sheet with linen pulp painting and etching
16 x 27 5/8 inches

Dieu Donné is pleased to announce a new edition by April Gornik. Halang Bay is an edition of 75 variable artworks in handmade paper.

Based on a large painting, the image was traced from an enlarged reproduction. This piece went through several test phases due to the great variations posed between the mediums used. Once the initial paper proof was produced the values appeared too intense especially in the sky area in relation to the thin information on the etching plate. Several states were made to the plate images to enhance the contrast in the mountain areas before the etching component was complete.
