Dieu Donné is pleased to release Under Sky and Water, a new Paper Variables edition by Glenn Goldberg. Working with Master Collaborator Amy Jacobs, the artist created a variable series of 15 unique cotton based pieces with pigmented linen and paint. Each of these pulp paintings integrate abstracted images of birds, dolls, and dogs; elements that are present throughout Goldberg’s work both in painting and print. These characters are offset by soft backgrounds bursting with kaleidoscopes of color.

In the artist’s words: “My process with these paper works began by making a place and ambiance in each work. Generally the pieces are colorful, windswept, quiet and misty and the results have much to do with the natural effects of the use of water and spray; with forms moving about as if they were in an air or river current. The feeling is natural with subtle, enhanced color. After these places and moods were established, living beings and signage were inserted by using paper pulp and a variety of stencils that I prepared. The results are colorful, lively and intentionally gentle in their demeanor.”
