New York Workspace Residencies

Friday, December 21, 6:30 PM
Moderated by Patricia C. Phillips

Dieu Donné will host a panel discussion on the current state of New York City’s workspace residency programs, moderated by Patricia C. Phillips, chair of Cornell University’s Department of Art, on Friday, December 21 at 6:30 PM. This program is free and open to the public.

The panel will feature several notable emerging artists who have participated in various workspace residencies, including Sonya Blesofsky, Noah Loesberg, and Jean Shin; as well as key administrative personnel responsible for managing the many programs in which artists have participated, including: Deborah Fisher, Socrates Sculpture Park; Jeanne Gerrity, Smack Mellon; Felicity Hogan, Lower East Side Printshop; and Dona Warner, Dieu Donné; and others.

This program coincides with the exhibition Workspace Program 2001-07, curated by Patricia C. Phillips, now on view through January 5.

About the Workspace Program
Established in 1990, the Workspace Program offers three annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create new work in handmade paper. The program seeks to encourage emerging artists to explore the creative possibilities of handmade paper, develop this art form, and promote the Workspace artists through exhibitions of their work produced at Dieu Donné, as well as through print and digital format.

More information on the residency and how to apply on the residencies page.

The Workspace Program is supported, in part, with public funds from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs; and by the Lily Auchincloss Inc. Foundation, the Milton & Sally Avery Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Greenwall Foundation, the Albert Kunstadter Foundation, and others.
